Forensic Hypnosis is the application of hypnosis in law enforcement investigations. There have been many cases in which the proper application of hypnosis has helped victims and witnesses recall important information.

The first and perhaps most famous of these is the 1976 Chowchilla California kidnapping. A school bus driver and 26 children were kidnapped and buried alive. They were able to dig out from their underground prison and were rescued. The bus driver was able to give a description of the suspect's vehicle, but under hypnosis was able to recall all but one character of the license plate, as well as other pertinent information. The case was ultimately solved and those responsible were given life sentences.

The forensic application of hypnosis must only be administered by a properly trained hypnotist. The utmost care must be given to both the hypnosis and the investigative process. Johnie Fredman successfully  completed the Texas TCLEOSE approved forensic hypnosis training curriculum, which is the only law enforcement specific training course in the United States. As a former police officer and current law enforcement chaplain (commissioned), he understands both the investigative process and the safeguards necessary to conduct a proper investigative hypnosis session. Johnie is willing to discuss the possible use of forensic hypnosis with any requesting law enforcement agency.

The basic principles of forensic hypnosis can also be applied to help everyday people find lost items and forgotten names and phone numbers. So, whether a law enforcement agency or simply someone who would like help in remembering important information, feel free to contact us for more information.
